These days libraries just aren’t made like they used to be. The basic point is to make a large assortment of books and resources available to the masses, and all you need is a library card. There really is so much more to it, or at least there should be. The atmosphere has to make you want to stay there and read, or study, or start writing that great American novel. Nobody wants to do all that under white fluorescent lights, closed in by scuffed white walls, and that gross moldy carpet smell… I digress. Alas, grand libraries are just no longer economically efficient. So for now, we will have to enjoy the ones that will go down in history as some of the most lovely homes to our beloved books.
