Painting in Louisville

Sometimes I watch old movies from the eighties and laugh at the over-the-top fashion, hair, and makeup. Many trends have played themselves out over the last century and it begs the question: what will happen to the era of the hipster? Granted, this trend is not all new, as a matter of fact it is all vintage. An entire generation has basically grasped at their favorite elements from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Which of these will stand the test of time, and which ones will our children’s children laugh at us for? Will Zooey Deschanel be our Twiggy? Or will her bangs alone live on in the “what were we thinking” bin?

Hipsterdom has touched so many facets: fashion, environment, film & television, art, interior design, and more than anything – music. This generation has produced a phenomenal indie scene, and even in Louisville, the vinyl is often sought after over the download. Part of this has to do with sound, and the other has to do with those fascinating album covers that truly encompass our generation this day and age.
